

The creamy saltiness of the gruyere, the mild sweetness of the fig and the slight bitterness of the arugula is such a delicious combo!! This is a wonderful open-faced sandwich-- a light and yet, tasty and satisfying, lunch.

The shot above was taken right before it went in the oven. See the gooey gruyere cheese nicely melted after it came out of the oven.

Yum! A drizzle of honey, especially truffle honey, would take this simple sandwich up a notch for me. If you do not have gruyere, I think a light, fluffy ricotta would be delicious as well. Eat it Up!

Those are delicious looking figs. My dad is italian and he grows figs that look just like that in his backyard and those trees are like his babies. Great recipe!
